Guide to the New Google Chat Appearance

Gooru Tip - Maximize the video player and adjust video quality for optimal viewing!

There have been some interesting changes to Google Chat recently, bringing in more Google+ information (the Circles you have that contact in), as well as a link to recent emails with that contact which I really like.

What do you think of the new Google Chat interface?

  1. Good video, though I am curious how this will work when used in a Google Apps org where Google+ has not been enabled- any demo’s of this?

  2. Hey Adrian – thanks for the comment!

I only have a couple of test domains, and both have Google+ turned on. I tried turning it off on one of the domains, but it’s taking a while to go into effect.

I asked my followers on Google+, but of course they would need to have a test domain to check as they are all using Google+ on their production domains! https://plus.google.com/u/0/116430706939524967973/posts/GrhE2eCNrjd – you should be able to view it though even without a Google+ account b/c it’s public.

  3. Hi guys,

We have a demo account right now and have not enabled Google+ yet. We see the old chat window…

  4. The problem we are seeing is this causing conflicts with users who already have a personal google+ account. No one wants to have multiple + accounts.

    Any thoughts?

    • It’s definitely a problem I’ve heard from many people, and I’ve heard Google will soon give you the ability to have both streams show under one account.

There shouldn’t be any technical conflicts though, just the annoyance of logging into two Google accounts to access your separate Google+ accounts.

Do you mean that its causing technical conflicts? If so, I would highly suggest using Chrome profiles to access different Google accounts in Chrome (as opposed to multiple sign-in).
